Yeah, she was a stuck up witch who spent any school breaks in England. I guess she’d have been better off living there and teaching German to English. She considered any English that was not Oxford English to be an insult to the “real English”.

I came back to my native Germany from an exchange year in the US (Arkansas of all places) and my English grade dropped from a B+ right down to a barely passed D.

I remember that in some markets the early Saab 9-5 had side reversing lights behind the front turn signal:

Just came back from Holiday trip to Germany and even a Jeep Compass looks gigantic there.

Same here. One of ours needs a new one anyway...

You weren’t wrong, at all. I was talking about Cé hé sin.

Same thing with the 2009-2011 Audi A6 C6 Premium Plus headlights. At least for them there is no way to turn the inside lights into high beams without additional wiring. I remember someone writing about that conversion on a German car forum. The Prestige has the dedicated cornering lights there that come with the

And VW did just that in the RoW model of the first gen Phaeton. The nicer ones had a Bi-Xenon projector on the outside and a high beam and flasher Xenon projector on the inside. The NAR model only ever came with the base Bi-Xenon outside/Halogen high beam inside configuration.

It may be the front parking/positioning lights required in Europe.

Exactly. This way the unsightly soot that comes out of a direct injection gasoline engine cannot blacken the tail pipe ends like it does on any car that has DI and functional chrome tail pipes (ask me how I know).

Odd. Why not just admit you may have had that wrong and move on? Seems like that would be the logical thing to do.

Learned driving in the US and then had to take my test in Germany on a manual. I did take a few driving lessons just to get that down. Drove manuals for 15 years and then decided to get lazy. Manual is for the fun extra vehicle, auto for the daily grinders.

Also, in the HID version of that same Golf headlight there are two turn signal indicators vertically stacked and the fog light moves to the bumper. Only the lower optioned models had the placeholder...

In Germany there is a right on red, if the red light on the traffic light has a little green right arrow next to it.

One of the most basic instincts is the fight or flights mechanism. Some poeple are able to control that impulse, others aren’t. In a high-adrenaline situation, the reflex is to tun.

I’m an atheist and even I would rather have a place to go to where the body or the ashes are buried (or spread, in case of the former). And recovering the body of a deceased is just part of basic human decency in my book.

That sounds like a great drive. We did some of that in reverse last Winter with our motorhome (Flagstaff, AZ to Santa Rosa, NM) and the views, especially in Eastern Arizona and West of Albuquerque are absolutely stunning.

“not been tested” or “have never used” in RVs is basically code for “does not work and is way too expensive to fix before I get rid of this money pit”. I learned that the hard way...

Well, you know, you could have went to a Tankstelle in einem Ort anstatt einer Tankstelle auf einer Raststätte and probably saved €0,05 - 0,15 per liter.

Well, dangit. I was talking with the seller of the S600 these past few days and hoping the price would come down. I guess not, with this kind of exposure.... It would be an irresponsible and stupid purchase, so I’d be all in.
