You mean like how Lifehacker has ads that look like stories?

You could use the Google Contacts plug-in, which I was close to including in this roundup, to sync your Google Contacts to Thunderbird and vice versa:

Actually getting together for LAN parties to play games like Warcraft II. All my friends in the same room, wires running everywhere. Sure, it's a lot easier to play multiplayer these days (and I love it), but I do miss it sometimes.

Actual owning games. With no DRM. For example... the original Prince of Persia.

I miss that everyone needed to figure out how a computer works. I work in IT, and everyone I knows calls me up asking me to fix something. Even my own kids don't try to figure out how to fix things, they just ask me to fix it; no troubleshooting at all.

I miss the old days of getting the config.sys and autoexec.bat exactly right for different games and Windows setups. When Qemm ruled, when you had to SET BLASTER and DMA and IRQ ranges mattered, when 640kB seemed like such a huge pool to work with.... The younglings don't know how easy they have it.

Flying Toasters

Crashes always occur at the end of a flight, by definition.

The best cloud storage, is the one that you got the largest amount of free storage via referral links. So, that 25GB from Box and 50GB from Tresorit stand at the top, for me.

Dropbox, because they have a Linux client. You'd think that would be an obvious thing to do for an app that has to work on all your computers to be useful, but none of Dropbox's competitors got the memo.

This is my opinion as someone who has used Open Source software for many years, but any service that purposefully ignores certain platforms should be automatically disqualified from "best of" anything.

Another DIY solution if you have a hosting plan is OwnCloud. They've been improving the service and even have mobile clients for iOS, Android, etc.

I wouldn't necessarily call going from Windows 7 to Windows 8 an upgrade.

DOS 6. ... eh, what was it? DOS 6.02 with NORTON COMMANDERRRR

I'm really starting to like elementaryOS. Ubuntu based, but with tons of awesome written from scratch goodness. Incredibly smooth thanks to its own Gala window manager and pantheon desktop environment. And really awesome looking. I know it obviously has some inspiration from Mac OSX but that's not really a bad thing :)

Has to be BeOS. Loved it and sorry Apple didn't buy it and run with it. Best multitasking OS i've ever used, and I've been computing since the 1970's

Yuck. 11.04 was pretty much the worst Ubuntu release ever IMHO, since Unity was brand new and very buggy. My favorite release was 10.10. It took the nice looks and reliable functionality of 10.04 and made it just that much smoother.

I seriously cannot wait for the next Book of Korra.

I definitely think this is true. When I was little I absolutely loved the show Static Shock, it was the only one with a hero that looked like me. They don't even have to make movies, I would settle for another show with a POC lead. The closest I can think of is Legend of Korra and that's not exactly a superhero show.

Hmm, this explains why my quest for vengeance is going so poorly - I'm clearly overdressed.
