J10's and J20's were discontinued in '88. Comanche was around until '92. Oh, and I lost all those Jalop-points a long time ago :)

Used to drive a '92 Storm. The reason you don't see them anymore is the bodies have all rusted off of them.

Jeep Comanche. The last Jeep pickup. 4.0L 6-cyl. Rugged. Durable. Last time I saw one, it was being driven by Helen Hunt chasing tornadoes.

There's one of these sitting derelict in front of my mechanic's shop.

Yep. Common theme on here is "why does Europe get all the cool cars, and they never sell the good stuff in the US?" Well, because high gas prices there have shifted the public demand for features. To your point, we're starting to see that shift in the US as well.

I would hope that the best part of this would be that the US will start learning to like small, efficient, fun cars with a turbocharged option at the top-end. So far, in the US it seems like adding efficiency includes adding heaping piles of boring along with it (Looking at you, Prius). When you can get the same

This one will be making AoD twice in a row!!!

The actual name of the car was the Hannibal Twin-8, as it was supposed to have 2 separate engines.

I was gonna weigh in on the Civic, but you've got it right. Drove a '99 2-door EX from IL to New York and back one time. When I finally got out of the thing, I couldn't feel my legs below the knee - which make shifting interesting. "I think the clutch is in, but I can't feel my feet, so who knows."

Agree. The Subie flat-12 was a disaster.

Diminishing returns, buddy. Diminishing returns.

Case in point.

I found it!

Forester and Outback, mainly. I get some crap for owning a forester XT, but I have a wife, son, and big dog, and don't want the low-mid-teens gas milage of an SUV, plus I do like to go fast and get around a corner or two at times. Someone posted an ad on Jalopnik (that may have been a joke) featuring a picture of

Miatas are for guys who prefer the company of other guys.

Glad you got lucky. I've been on forums all over where the general concensus is the things only make it 80k - 100k. Less if driven in anger, and not left to cool down after driving. And yes, you can get a cheap used TD04 off Ebay that some yahoo has pieced together with bondo and bits of string. The problem with

Yep. Until the turbo goes, as they are wont to do every 80k or so. Then the best you can hope for is a 2k+ repair, and the worst is a motor with little bits of sharp, shattered impellers all up in it's bearings. I'm currently dealing with the latter...

Nebraska money is good in San Fran. Buy a plane ticket, and have the guy meet you at the airport. Take a day or two off work, and have a little adventure. It makes for a fantastic road trip home in your brand new-to-you truck. I loved every minute of my flight out to and drive back from PA to pick up my Forster XT.

Is it just me, or does it look like the car in your pic (yours?) is ever so slightly bending in the middle, just at where the B pillar should be?

A wise man once said: "You can't polish a turd, all you get is shiny shit." The fact that he's throwing a second one in is akin to polishing a turd with another turd. CP.
