That is not why the electoral college exists. It existed as a way for small states to not be ruled by the tyranny of the majority, in the same way that both houses of Congress are set up (where the smaller the state you have, the more outsized your influence is).

Oh for sure. I live in the Midwest and I see it coming from both directions tbh. In my experience, the Dems ignore vast swaths of their own states and Repubs inundate people with very partisan messaging regardless of who they are or which election is near.
