The Golden Globes already gives four acting awards, basically separating “Drama” and “Comedy”. The Oscars could condense the awards eliminating gender and separate by genre. Like “Best (Supporting) Acting- Comedic” and “Best (Supporting) Acting- Dramatic” would work.

I’ve been playing Fallen London on and off since 2010. I think I spent like $20 all t0ld. Kingdom of Loathing I probably spent like $100 on over however many years I spent on it.

It’s genuinely mysterious to me why streaming companies that have spent significant amounts of money making movies (Netflix spent ~$166m on Rebel Moon) they don’t put those in theaters first with the promise that the only place you will be able to watch it once it leaves theaters is on their streaming service.

Collectively, we have failed to prevent Shrek 5.

It’s pretty likely that Sage is going to be out of commission for a while because the bullet is still rattling around inside of her braincase, so her brain can’t heal correctly like it does when she gives herself a lobotomy (after which she removes the spike.)

I mean, Kendrick does have plausible deniability in that while “Not Like Us” was the knockout blow in a rap beef, it’s also genuinely the overwhelming favorite to be “Song of the Summer, so of course he has to drop a video.

A huge amount of TERFery fails to account for the fact that trans masculine people exist. Like all the “keep trans girls out of women’s sports” stuff becomes laughable when it means “put trans boys into women’s sports.

You ever notice how the TERF-Island Terfery is always focused on “rapists will transition in order to more easily rape people” a thing that normal people would file under “it’s already illegal to rob a bank.” Like if a cis person wants to walk into the wrong bathroom, there won’t be a team of Navy SEALs descending from

Having recently rewatched Spaceballs, I don’t think it aged very well (it’s certainly more cringeworthy than a lot of Brooks’ oeuvre), but there’s significantly more to make fun of RE: Star Wars now than there was in 1987.

Do you think Gamemaster Anthony is available to direct?

One hopes that companies finally realize that people rarely sign up to streaming to watch one thing, so you’re better off putting stuff on TV/in Theaters first to make money off of them, before offloading them to streaming where you’re just trying to keep the new stuff dripping in enough to make people not cancel

I mean, Furiosa puts the Storyteller in the actual movie (and Dr. Dementus’s “History Man” is called “The First History Man” in the credits.) So it’s pretty clear these are “stories the people in the Wasteland tell about their history” not “what actually happened.”

Google AI overview developer walks into a bar, is careful not to crawl, sidle, limbo, or tumble into the bar, orders only beers on the menu in reasonable quantities, rather than 0 beers, -1 beer, 9999999999 beers, or a lizard.

Very much looking forward to the episode of Forged in Fire in about 8 years where they need to make knives out of a rusty Cybertruck.

Fair warning though, in Defending Your Life, there’s a scene set in the “Past Lives Pavillion” where people are horrified to find out they were previously not white, along with some weird and gross stereotyping. Good movie, but I think that part is why it’s not regularly shown these days.

Yeah, “Planet of the Apes” as a franchise has fewer bad movies and an overall higher OPS than Star Wars, for goodness sakes. I have more confidence that an unannounced future Planet of the Apes movie that I know absolutely nothing about will entertain me me than I would for a Marvel or DC project I knew just as little

At the meeting with Robert House, having Big MT being represented by obvious fat cat was an odd choice, since that’s the company that Fallout fans will associate with “scientists who can neither see the forest nor the trees, because those leaves are interesting.”

While Jeffrey Jones was very good in Beetlejuice, the absence of Glenn Shadix will be more missed, who is unable to reprise his role of Otho on account of being dead.

One hopes this movie is a direct repudiation by Phillips to the people who liked the previous one because they saw the Joker as some sorts of edgelord ubermensch role model. Since I’m willing to bet a fairly small portion of that set have even seen the 1953 MGM musical “The Band Wagon.”

I mean, the way we do something about “AI” in contexts like this is not “people aren’t going to see the movie because it used AI” (since by all accounts it’s an excellent movie and most of the people involved had nothing to do with this decision) and more about “LLMs need to license the copyrighted materials they
