Choking - or to use the correct term, strangulation- comes up more often than you would think in domestic violence cases. In some states, it’s chargeable as aggravated assault. It’s a bad sign, it’s not ok, and no one deserves it.

Just a note from a prosecutor of these kinds of cases, the correct term for putting hands around someone’s neck and applying pressure is strangulation. Choking refers to when someone’s airway is obstructed by an object - like food.
