What I can’t understand is why every liberal Texan/Mississippian/whatever doesn’t leave those dogshit states and live somewhere better, where they won’t constantly live in danger of grid failures or bungled crisis response and crippled by underfunded schools and where they won’t be surrounded by mouthbreathing

The problem isn’t red states: The problem is small towns and rural areas.

Voting is an action and actions have consequences.

It’s almost as if states are imperfect and arbitrarily-drawn units that don’t accurately capture people’s beliefs or something.

For some reason, we have a bizarre national allergy to holding regular people responsible for their conscious choices, including the people they hurt by weaponizing their votes.
