Exactly. When the hell are they going to realize what they’re dealing with? Subpoenas aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on, contempt citations and censure are meaningless to authoritarians who don’t recognize the legitimacy of other branches of government.

It’s natural that a figure who equates himself with the state would call any personal disloyalty treason. It’s buffoonish, but it’s also pure and dangerous authoritarianism.

He is trying to get them killed, and he very well may succeed. This is what the Republican Party is. Burn it to the ground.

Our side also has a sense of restraint and basic respect for life and human decency that they lack. They are bloodthirsty and will stop at nothing, will think nothing of murdering anyone for their dear leader, and they will enjoy it.

It turns out they CAN just ignore the courts until someone starts enforcing the court orders. Just like how subpoenas aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on when delivered to someone who says “Oh yeah? Make me.”

Anyone who thinks we’re getting through the next two years without large scale political violence—most likely in the form of widened white supremacist terrorism—is delusional. This is particularly true in light of the fact that we don’t have free and fair elections and can’t trust the democratic political process.

Trying to imagine this kind of back-patting attaboy Splinter post if Warren or Biden or Hillary in 2015 has heart surgery. This fanboy cultism is depressing.

The worse it gets for him, the more dangerous for all of us. If he senses he will have to make a personal sacrifice, he will sacrifice the world instead.

I bet Splinter would be just as subdued if this was Warren or Biden.

If this happened to Warren, Splinter would be calling for her to drop out and endorse Bernie. If it happened to Biden, Splinter would report him legally dead. If it happened to Hillary Clinton in 2015-16, Splinter would publish Breitbart-like conspiracies about her health problems.

What do you do when tens of millions of Americans are insanely delusional, blindingly angry, and stoked to commit political violence? We’re about to find out.

The idea that anyone thinks we’re escaping this regime without large scale political violence is downright laughable and always has been.

Welp, now they confirmed that they’re approaching this as a “sprint” with “few, if any hearings.” So now Trump and the GOP know they just have to wait it out for a few weeks. Wonderful.
