you really have to see the dress in person to know what you're getting. I got a $99 David's Bridal dress, from the Oleg whatever line, and it did not look like a $99 dress, especially once it was tailored and was framed by the veil and accessories. I also know people who got great deals buying used dresses or going

IDK, morons is a little harsh :-) ... I guess everyone wants to save $$$ and look/ feel beautiful, and well, buyer beware! Better to find a second-hand gown in a resale shop or thrift store, and invest in a good tailor to fit it to you. But it's easy for me to say that when I live in a large city with plenty of stores

Hello, fellow eBayer! I always take my own photos, too. I'm not great at it, but good enough, and I take as many as possible- full length, close-ups, details, etc. and make sure everything is color correct and clear. I don't have a mannequin, just a dressmaker's form, but it's good enough. When stock photos are used,

I think that it's a dress store with the word Barn in the name that would be my first red flag that high fashion was not to be found there.

As a fellow eBay seller who IS honest, I will say - check check check the feedback, AND - where it's coming from! Send notes to your seller asking for measurements (I'm always happy to take them) and if they're rude, or it seems shady, step away. I've sold wedding dresses, veils, St. John's dresses, amazing couture

(The Metro estimates the cost of some couture dresses at over $40,000)

My wedding dress left glitter everywhere and I felt like a fairy. Ispent 80 bucks off the clearance rack at Torrid.

I wish I knew enough people to make it happen.

If you want something to fit you, it has to be fitted on you. And have foundation sewn in to give you the look you want.

Hey ladies... I've been selling on eBay for 2 years, and here in Los Angeles I do some down-and-dirty thrift shopping... I live in a pretty nice neighborhood, and my local thrift stores often have some gorgeous second hand evening and bridal gowns!!! I actually found a Marchesa Notte red silk chiffon gown for $7.99 I

It could make for a fun party idea. Everyone order something from the website and wear it to the party.

I'm going to misquote Terrance McNally, but some things are too good to be true, and then there are stories too true to be good.

All important dresses or outfits kind of need to be tried on, especially if there is a deadline. Just because something looks good on a 20 year old model posed, just so, excess material pinned behind her to make it look perfect in addition to photoshop does not mean it will look even remotely good on you, regardless

Four years ago when I got married I was part of a LiveJournal (yes I know) community for people planning weddings. Despite being warned there was always a bride who didn't understand that if it's on the internet and it seems too good to be true, it's probably not true.

God I want to play dress up SO MUCH. Ordering these things is like sequined polyester Russian Roulette and I want to play a lot.

okay I know 'leaving a trail of gold dust wherever I walked' should be a bad thing, but it just makes it sounds 100x more magical.

Unexpectedly glamorous!

Oh, oh god. This looks like a dessert grandma brought to Christmas dinner in 1975.

Even tailoring doesn't help - I got my outfit tailored and for some bizarre reason the tailor didn't account for the fact that the embroidered panel on the hem and waist would increase the length of my outfit.
