Maybe we hate droning civilians, keeping Guantanamo open, and allowing/ordering Holder to participate in the suppression of the Black Lives Matter movement. No socialist thinks he was worse than other US presidents. He was better than most.
I’m more convinced it’s not the conservatives that you need to point out the existing socialist structures in society to, but the liberals.
In a culture as hopelessly muddled as ours is on this stuff, I think defining socialism — and crucially, differentiating it from the social democracy offered up by folks like Sanders/AOC — is pretty important if we’re going to have useful conversations, both with Democrats and Republicans.
