Oh... I, uh, don’t know if I’ll still come around anymore much after this.

“Police and political leaders seem powerless to do anything about the protesters (or maybe they’re just supporters)...”
Why not treat it as a right with responsibilities?

Go to the place where voting takes place, show them your ID and vote. That’s it.
I don’t get how voting is so hard? Go to the place where voting takes place, show them your ID and vote. That’s it.
So showing your ID to the poll worker when you go to vote is too complicated for you?
god i wish cities/states were doing that and enforcing it
You see, Erin, the sort of anger you’ve sparked in your readership is exactly what the Times was trying to avoid when they let you go. This article could’ve had 2 sentences removed or reworded, it would’ve conveyed the same story, and no one would’ve been upset. You need to consider how much you’re writing your own…
Wow. I remember hearing about that but didn’t connect the name.
Can we stop with this “people have it hard because Covid and rich people” BS? Have you not seen the massive labor shortage going on? The huge increases in base pay to try to get anyone to show up? Stores and restaurants having to shut down or limit hours because they literally can’t get people to work?
“But this strikes me more as desperate, wholesale looting than property crime”

Article written by the same woman who got fired from the NYT (after 5 months of employment) for going on a profanity-laced tirade against gun owners last month. Not surprising she has deep sympathy for criminals.
I wonder if Erin would be quite as cool with stealing if thieves broke into her home and took her stuff. The thought experiment can assume that these thieves are “suffering from income inequality” or are “desperate”. Perhaps “shit has even been real” lately for them?
Me after reading this article excusing blatant theft
incredibly expensive Epi pens
Stealing is not a good thing to do, we all know that. Thieves are out to make a quick buck at the expense of someone else. But this strikes me more as desperate, wholesale looting than property crime.
“Now, every outlet is calling these folks thieves, and sure, that’s technically correct.”
