The main reason for this is the cheap plastic, however one way I try to avoid breaking the trim on my 09 tc is to press the button on the latch but lift the latch by the panel gap underneath instead. Had it for three years now and it seems I’m the only one in town WITHOUT it broken.

Reminds me of Tale of Two Wastelands, that mod team managed to put together Washington (Fo3) and New Vegas (F:NV) together, and the mod works pretty well. Hopefully these guys manage to pull it off.
