I do NOT like this movie doing a Khan-thing. Not at all. To me, Ricardo Montalban did the ultimate performance of Khan. It does NOT need to be redone.

Often, an abandoned infant grows into an adult who runs away from relationships (abandons others) before he/she can be abandoned again (and feel the pain / trauma all over again).

I am really looking forward to this film, but wish Burton would quit using the pancake makeup. It's distracting from the film, not adding to it. I loved Dark Shadows as a kid, and Barnabas did look pale. But the washout Burton does is too much for me. Always has been.
