Keeping his idiot defender from getting a yellow card by losing his cool for no reason? I never understand the desire of some fans for players to immediately publicly flagellate themselves for their mistakes (and I say this as someone who absolutely did that when I played organized sports - it’s a failing caused by an

You’re allowed to disagree - you’re wrong, but there’s no rules or laws against that.

But it isn’t a “dumb” mistake, it’s a mistake that 95% of people probably would think wasn’t a mistake until it was explained to them. I think “don’t do that again” would have been more appropriate than even a token suspension, given that the vast majority of people are almost certainly unfamiliar with the racist

This is a terrible take. You’re essentially arguing that umpires have the ability to break the rules whereas computers don’t, so umpires are needed. Huh?

Yup, no possible way it could be a product you’re not familiar with. No chance, that isn’t possible. Ergo, it must be a banana.

It’s not quite the right color, not the right shape, and it bounces nothing like a banana. But maybe!

That’s... not very nice.

How did this even get published? Was there literally no one in the Deadspin office who could look at that video and say “uh... that doesn’t really look like a banana”?

Remember how making easily disprovable allegations of racist behavior really helped the anti-racism cause when it’s happened in the past? Me neither.

Oh shut up.

Sounds like a bad argument.

Not by the logic I’m using. You compared this event to other events where underdogs have a greater shot of winning, and I pointed that out. Seems like that upset you and you read things into my comment that aren’t there.

“My boss says I’d be a better worker if I had a wife - let’s get married!”

LOL at the clock meaning nothing in soccer. You clearly don’t watch any soccer.

So... you like soccer? Because when there’s 80 minutes gone by in a soccer game, I know there’s 13-16 minutes left to play. When there’s 10 minutes left in an NFL game, I know there’s... 20 minutes to go? 30 minutes to go? An hour to go?

Oh god you’re one of those people that doesn’t understand (or want to understand) the purpose of the offside rule... I think the soccer watching community will move on just fine without you.

I’d say it’s pretty easy to allow people to do things without your knowledge, it’s stopping them that’s tough!

Why do you feel bad for him? Seems to me like he’s doing pretty great, dyslexia or no!

That’s great that medication worked for you, but it’s not the answer for everyone, and some of the treatments can have significant side effects.

Those sports you named are ones where underdogs have a chance - in this event, because of the much lower maximum scores they can achieve and the fact that the sport uses as “best run” scoring system, the underdogs have essentially no chance to win.
