The breadth of this case blows the Sandusky case out of the water, both in terms of victims and the number of times those victims’ accusations were ignored. I live in Pennsylvania. When I wanted to volunteer at my kids’ schools, I had to take a three hour mandatory training on spotting grooming, sexual abuse, and what to do if you even think its happening.

“Teenage boys are really, really dumb” is the anthem used alongside “boys will be boys” to excuse bad (often criminal) behaviour all the time since time immemorial. All that does is mitigate the behaviour and enable it to continue.
