I wish there were more men in my field! But because my field is historically female the pay is low and no man wants it. Or companies lay off men and give their responsibilities to significantly lower-paid women. This is definitely a problem that feminism can solve but don’t blame it on feminists.

OOHE, you make me ashamed to be Asian. Your friends suck, too.

I think it’s just about being treated decently/without hostility- I don’t need to know my cube neighbor’s life story, but if she gives me the stink eye when I say good morning that will have a profound effect on my mood. I think we are all so awful because we don’t really want to be here. I think it’s better to work

Have you always felt this way or is it specific to the place you currently work? I also feel this way and I can’t tell if it’s because I’m just older now and have less patience for others or if it’s because the company I work for does not attract like-minded people.

That comment is nuts BUT they are showing this Asian woman’s face on almost every story and I’ve yet to see his anywhere.

He should also learn about the so-called “Father of Gynecology” and the abuses he perpetrated against exclusively black (enslaved!!! Jesus Christ) test subjects.

This stereotype is ANCIENT! I have a copy of 1001 Nights translated by Sir Richard burton and right in the first story bam, this stereotype is in the footnotes to explain an insinuation made by a main character.

I don’t like sharing this way with little kids. Their hands are just filthy. But of course it’d be terrible optics for harry to throw away the box and get a fresh one.

But they’re so “clean cut”!

I find more and more that I don’t identify with the jez hive mind. Oh well.

That’s a preposterous posterior

This piece highlights that we are more likely to remove children from their (poor) parents’ care than we are to address the reasons why neglect happen in the first place.

People don’t like to acknowledge that parents are human with human flaws. We especially don’t like to confront the fact that many middle-class people neglect their children, but never have children taken away from them. But when a poor person acts human and makes a mistake we’re all over them.

Good thing the vast majority of rural people voted for Hillary Clinton and support a universal healthcare roll out!

Graduate from high school during the Clinton boom years, man. Racism wasn’t quite so overt as it is now and there were job opportunities. People I know who are 7-10 years older than I am are making hella bank compared to my peers.

I just Googled it and it looks like Aarav (for boys) and Aditya (for girls) were the most common names given to Indian children in 2013. Even so I only know one Aarav and one Aditya so like you said, the “most common” names are still not used ad nauseum like “Emma,” “Ava” and “Jaden” are here.

To paraphrase lokowoko, when women or minorities are given opportunities it’s because of affirmative action or quotas. But if white men are given these same opportunities it’s because they earned them through merit.

Maybe her partner can write the damn thank you notes! And she can just tell her mom, “please contact partner. He/she/they is/are in charge of this task.”

I bet a lot of Indians are naming their babies “Muhhamad.” It would only be Hindu Indians who wouldn’t adopt that (traditionally Muslim) name.

He supports racist policies, is supported by Neo-Nazis including David Duke, he refuses to disavow white supremacy without eating his words the next day, is on record saying he wouldn’t rent properties to black people (I mean I can go on and on and on- this is just off the top of my head after a work day I’ve spent
