In high school a friend of mine and I each had VW Passats. I found an ebay auction for a bracket that would allow me to keep the trunk lid level while opening it not totally unlike this contraption. There seemed to be only 1 other bidder, it turned out to be my friend. The “bracket” was about as crappy as erector set…

It sucks, people hit their spouses vehicles in the driveway all the time. There are a few companies that won’t apply the collision deductible to both vehicles, but who shops for that when buying a new policy?
