Because as tempting as it might be to try, you really can’t ban stupidity.

The lack of Flintstones literacy among millenials is a real concern.
Sure. And if private schools want to do it, that’s certainly their call. FSU isn’t a private school. Most of the schools with tens of thousands of students aren’t private schools. Or evangelicals. Lots of these schools exist as places for middling students to go and drink themselves into a sociology degree for four…
For the same reason I’ve got skepticism about dealing with gun control in America the same way they did in Australia. It’s a bigger problem, more ingrained in the culture.
Right, but I’m not talking about the promises of Presidents Becky and Keg-Machine, I’m talking about the Schools and the very well paid adults who run the schools actually doing it. It shouldn’t be left in the hands of the dopes who need to be regulated. That sort of hands-off attitude, I think, is the problem. Allow…
I think the case being made here is that there’s a middle ground between what’s existed and a complete washing of the hands and that is to have frats and sororities but to make sure there’s better regulation and enforcement of said regulation.
Which probably works for some schools. But for the bigger ones? With tens of thousands of students? And where fraternities/sororities play a big role in student housing?
Because to some extent it’s probably better for Greek Life to be associated with a school where they’d have some control over it than for it to be “outlawed” in which case Students who still want to join the Grand Order of Water Buffaloes or whatever would just do it off campus. There’s a limit to how much control a…
And that strikes me as perfectly valid. I apologize for how naive this sounds but the sheer number of wolves in sheep’s clothing brought to light recently has really blown me away so for the people who really should be central to this discussion because of the actual consequences of misogyny and rape culture, ie not…
You’re getting piled on pretty good here so in the interest of being someone who isn’t going to accuse you of being pro-rape or whatever I’ll just say that I do see what you’re getting at/
It’s why Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey was always so confusing. South Detroit is really just Canada.
The Canada you can see from South Detroit is Windsor. It’s, uh, not the best example of Canada.
Lots of alcoholics try to combat their addiction and fail. It doesn’t make them bad people. You can be a good person and have problems with addiction. You can’t be a good person with a slight fascism problem.
Alcoholism is a disease. I think it’s a pretty far flight away from being on a level with a stated political agenda.
You’d like to think Lazio supporters could be more empathetic to Anne Frank but for them to understand I guess she’d have had to have spent her time hiding in the basement.
Seriously. What is the fucking message here? It’s only wrong to be in bed with fascism metaphorically?
Too true. Also, what if your local Klansman has a really good Apple Pie recipe? Worth hearing it out.
Unless she just badly misunderstood what people meant when they said Fuck Nazis.
All due respect but that’s really not true. If XYZ makes the announcement and it does turn out to be a bad one, one that justifies a sharp stock price, then it won’t be the fault of a “rumour”. If, however, the rumour turns out to be unfounded then their stock price won’t be at 10 dollars for very long.
I’ve heard people say that, in general, Cross isn’t the nicest guy in the world. While being a jerk is a step away from being a racist jerk I can definitely buy that he may have said these things to her for any number of reasons. His stand-up always sort of had that element to it to. Even when he’s standing on the…
