Santa Stole My Lady by Fritz and the Tantrums.
I don’t know. We’ve tried nothing and we’re all out of ideas.
Did she? She demanded it? With the threat of what behind it? Sanctions? What effect have sanctions had on altering the policy of dictators around the world?
Did I say Bernie had all the answers? This is a problem with foreign policy that extends all throughout Left wing politics. Brace yourself for a stunner but not everything is about the Democratic primary.
Not to worry, NATO’s plan to use the power of shame will pay off any day now.
It sure is a shame that there wasn’t just a big Presidential election where the Progressive party in the US could have made this sort of thing a big issue and clearly elucidated their policy on this going forward.
Problem there is that there’s no easy way to know who’s watching or why. My guess at this point she’s far more of a draw than he is on the show but it can be hard to quantify that which is probably why the people making the show will at the very least try to negotiate her down.
Chapter 12: Wait a second, I married who?
I knew it. Sure, some people blamed Trump and the platform he gave to divisive racists or the Democrats and their embrace of globalization while ignoring the real problems it causes on labour markets but all along I knew. Somehow, someway...this was Cookie Lyon’s fault.
I was just going to say, this is Mad World’s fault. Fuck you Donnie Darko.
“I’d like to have made the movie with an all chinese cast but the ticket buying public are a bunch of racist assholes so here we are” might be cathartic but it’s not much of a marketing strategy.
I feel like a problem people are having in terms of parsing this issue is looking at it as if the intent of these laws, even a misguided stated intent, is the liberation of women wearing these garments. Really, these laws are just cultural protectionism.
I did always find that the weirdest part of Harry Potter fanhood. The friends I have who went to those sorts of schools tended to not speak very highly of the experience.
I think the distinction then might be between the use of a particular word and a symbol that represents a specific group/movement/whatever. If this were a case of spraypainting “Kike” or whatever I would broadly agree with you. That’s bad regardless of motivation and my denouncement of it wouldn’t have much to do with…
I am happy to leave this at a respectful disagreement but I hope you realize that when it comes to actual Nazis I’m not particularly worried about them hurting my feelings.
I don’t agree. Again, I agree Trolls are shitty people but please don’t minimize what that symbol means. If this person is using it to try and get an emotional reaction from me I think they’re a dipshit that should have scorn heaped upon them by any and all comers. If it’s a genuine statement of their political…
Yes, I do think there’s a meaningful difference. As a Jewish person the difference between “I want to hurt your feelings” and “I genuinely agree with the tenets of the Nazi party” is pretty fucking meaningful to me.
I agree. I just think for the most part they’re dealt with differently.
Other people have responded similarly and I’ve disagreed with them. It does matter to me, as a Jewish person, whether or not genuine Neo-Nazi sympathies are on the rise.
Yes there’s a practical difference. I’m a Jewish person. If I think a person in my neighbourhood is a troll then I’m rolling my eyes and thinking of ways to solve this problem through education campaigns and changes to laws. If I think someone in my neighbourhood is an actual Nazi I’m buying a fucking shotgun.
