my mom used to work at a food pantry in WV and they routinely got tons of unused food from local Walmarts that the locals heavily depended on. Definitely an imperfect Bandaid to a much bigger problem, but they’re not useless either.

I used to do other people’s taxes at H&R Block, but gave it up because it seemed like every year we were working harder and harder and making less and less per return (we were only paid for completed returns). But the number of people who came in and were disappointed that they weren’t getting the Earned Income Tax…

Also, if people have access to health care and enough food to eat and can buy diapers and formula, they won’t be stealing that shit, or stealing catalytic convertors so they can buy that shit, which means middle class people less and we aren’t having to waste resources on incarceration for those people.

And SNAP benefits (food stamps) are set to increase 25% as well, which assists households with AND without children. Combined, these programs will make a real difference on decreasing food insecurity in this country.

Yes, why don’t I get free food? Huh? I mean I don’t need it, but if you’re going to just give free food to poor people you should give it everyone! At least I could donate it to a food pantry and get a tax write off. Geesh.
