Yeah, this was it for me too with Danny.
Yeah, this was it for me too with Danny.
This show consistently fails to call Danny out on any of his sanctimonious bullshit. Even on Buffy they were smart enough to have the supporting characters give Buffy a bit of self-awareness. Danny is getting increasingly obnoxious and the supporting characters seem to simply be placating him like a spoiled 2 year…
Yep, exactly. This is why I partly don't get the 'But the actor didn't have much time to prepare' excuse. On one hand, sure, that's ridiculous and wtf were they thinking, but on the other hand-if you cast someone with some training they're much more likely to get fight choreography and things like stillness quickly…
I figured we were in agreement. :) I know a lot of folks are criticizing this show and while I think that's fine, I think it's also nice to offer a frame of reference so that people can understand why this show is so disappointing.
One more link and I'm done today, I promise!
Fair enough-but report back when you've seen it, I'd be curious to know what you think! :)
It's funny you mention that-I made couple points about this in the comments a few episodes back (I hope the link works, I'm not sure how to get specific comments to show up)-

I realize that it might seem like I'm saying that the fights in Iron Fist pale in comparison to an incredible film by a revered director, but that's silly. Of course it's not going to be on that level, I was just hoping that Iron Fists' fighting style was going to be like Ziyi Zhang's in this sequence-flowing and…
No time like the present!
Man, that first episode is so great-I must've seen it a dozen times and it's just incredible. I love that show. Honorable mention to the opening sequence in the film for all around Spike badassery: https://www.youtube.com/wat…
There have been so many fights in this show up until now where it rarely seems like Iron Fist is winning as easily as he should-in fact the opening encounter with the guards was the only fight I've seen thus far (10 episodes in) that comes close to that. It's really starting to stretch believability that he is such a…
Ugh, really? We could've gotten this actor!? I'm already barely making it through this series as it is, but knowing this makes it even worse. This actor had so much charisma, and even seemed as though he could've made a consistent tone for this series work. Of course, that's the duty of the writers/showrunners, and…
I tried to go ahead with my slog through the last few episodes of Iron Fist after this, but I turned it off after 10 minutes and went back to the re-airing instead.
For the first week or so it was out I would just listen through 'Call Ticketron' and then immediately start back at the beginning, like 'how can this possibly get any better!?'. It was worth getting through all of it, but RTJ 3 is more dense than their previous stuff (it reminds me more of solo El-P stuff).
Claire has kept me from throwing my remote at the TV so many times watching this show..
This is bad news…I watched this one last night, decided to watch the next one, and barely made it through. And I thought it was only 10 episodes for some reason..this is going to be a tough slog.
I think the thing that Avatar: TLA gets right is that Ang is shown to struggle with his beliefs in a variety of different ways. For example (hopefully this is vague enough, everyone who hasn't watched the show really should rectify that post haste): Ang is an all-powerful being, but is too young to grasp what that…
It does. I'm keeping pace with the reviews here so I haven't seen the rest of her performance (I keep hearing that she's one of the best things about this show), but you can see it even in the way she walks. A lot of folks think you can spot a dancer or martial artist in the way they move, but in my opinion it's…
Whenever they cast a non-dancer in a 'dancer' role I make this same argument (as a former dancer, I can always tell when this happens and it's annoying, although I realize you have to sacrifice some realism). If you cast a dancer in the role, for example, they already understand how choreography works, and they don't…
This is so well-put!
