Other than the smoothness that can be (and is) worked out with a Fluidampr style solution, the right cam and turbo or (super/turbo combo) can make plenty of power when it counts. My Audi A4 can get 40mpg when off boost (hwy) and still deliver 300/300 with a not outrageous tune.

Yup she runs good for a 4 pot (5valve) good for about 290 hp /300 tq on boost. A bit peaky, but does well on long trips. I have to say, I’m quite tempted to go for a 2.7 TT swap to go with the existing 01E 6 speed.
