@MrGOH: Every time he fractures a piece of his soul he looses some humanity, and it's reflected in his face.
I lost all chance of being scared of Voldemort when it's reveled that the way to defeat him is happenstance your way across the right wand.
@truthtellah: In that regard, then humans are not all that unique from the bacteria and other microbial lifeforms that altered enough to formed specialized parts, as much of that was done with just as much 'purpose' as some of the self-alterations an IA would make. Nor are we different in a large way the other…
@truthtellah: For the first few generations, sure. Until the AIs start designing themselves to be better than us in every way. Then it really won't be about us anymore.
When the aliens come, they will only see us and elaborate contraptions bacteria have engineered to carry them from place to place.
@Death_By_SnuSnu: Very possible. I'm cool with that as long as the phenomena aren't going to interact in anyway with the nukes or the equipment around them. If they start messing up, say, the electrical circuits of the guidance systems, I'm going to have some problems.
I thought we called them UAPs now. Unidentified aerial phenomena. Which, I think, is a much better name. It's a pretty big logical leap to say they are physical objects and not some kind of light/electric/other disturbance.
@Smeagol92055: Agreed. On all but one count (I have a weakness for Ferrell). Why not have a supervillian be a supervillian and still be the protagonist? Why must they always turn into the boring 'good guys' by the end. The days of the Hayes Code are long gone. This was my one (and only) problem with Despicable…
@lightninglouie: No simple lady reporter roles for her. I want me a cleaver talking, deep sigh wielding superchick. I want her to kick much bad guy ass, and I want her to do it now.
I have not yet warmed up to Jonah Hill. Maybe only having to listen to his voice instead of watching him pretend to act will help.
@go-falcons: My husband works in recycling and brings home every copy he runs across (which is quite a lot).
We have a lot of really old National Geographics in my house (reason is not important) and I was reading one the other day that said all reasonable people hoped the USA will be on metric by the end of the 80's, but there was not doubt at all that by the end of the 90's we will have been forced into the change.
@Dunny0: I'm right there with you. I mean, it's not like they could have ended the run of such fun characters (and a very underrated show) with a really bad, unnecessary X-files episode.
Odyssey 5!!!!!!
@ziplizard: Not a secret. They are part of the Quiverfull movement, which aims to take over America through greater numbers.
@corpore-metal: Very cool idea. I will have to read some more about it.
@Kamigoroshi: But what I'm saying is the very idea of 'going against your nature' is itself, an illusion.
I used to wear a very simple concealer when I was a teacher because I didn't need my students seeing that I had acne. But since I don't teach anymore (and my acne has all but vanished) I don't even own makeup. Unless you count nail polish, which I apply about three times a year.
@Dunny0: Further proof that Dr. Thaddeus Venture would have made a fairly decent dictator.
