Zaphod and the Total Perspective Vortex in the second book is one of my favorites
I was planning on binging this show this summer - glad to see that it sticks the landing! Starting asap
Vince Staples is awesome - I wasn't feeling Big Fish too much but BagBak is probably my favorite rap song this year, tied with Kendrick's "DNA."
"nothing matters? Absolutely nothing matters?"
I'm glad this was posted, but for fucks sake, just start an AV Club politics section already!
I saw this live - the one thing I had trouble with was a bit about (iirc) depression being a "white people thing", but it was otherwise fantastic. I'm looking forward to watching this, though!
Agreed, actually - the music forums aren't as terrible as they could be, and the LGBTQ community on there is pretty solid as well. Unfortunately, the vocal minority gets the most press.
I haven't seen it, but this Vulture recap did:
"Gad is turning a large fishbowl into a helmet as part of his Comic-Con costume. After Gad refuses to see their father, Braff says, "You know what the problem is with hiding in a fishbowl, Noah? Everyone can see you."
All of them were theatrical!
Yes! This is a solid piece and I'm glad it got moved to FYC instead.
I listened to Pageant once on the stream before the shit started happening, and I adored it, but in light of all the accusations some of the content feels kind of disturbing (even a line like "answer my text, you dick" creeps me out now!)
Lovett or Leave It does have goofy skits and schtick, but "fuck this, fuck you. You fucking morons" does some up a lot of it.
Agreed 200% - I really loved this line: “even the most ardent supporter of sexual autonomy and LGBTQ rights is entitled to be portrayed in a manner that is truthful.”
At the rate the world's going, people will think of Australian dudes playing fire guitars on top of trashed cars and strong female protagonists ripping up the desert when they remember the 2020s, and only a select few will connect the current landscape to Fury Road.
It's not that it's the best thing ever, it's more that it's impossible to dislike.
^^ yes. people like Ashley Ray-Harris have been good for the site, but it's baffling that can't just start an AV Club Politics subsection the way they did for food - in fact, politics would probably be a more profitable thing than food at this point.
Why Jon Favreau (not the Iron Man director, the podcast host) has yet to announce his run is beyond me :P
oh FUCK yes!
