Oh dear, Blue October… I like that song and "into the ocean", but everything they've done since then is pretty devastating. The lead singer clearly struggles with mental health issues and it comes across in a few of their songs ("The Flight" as an example). When the lead singer chooses to discuss it directly, it's

I feel like School of Rock keeps edging closer and closer to entering the "Perfect Films" canon (see also: The Princess Bride, though obviously School is nowhere near as good a movie)

I wonder if it's the same song.

The one that eventually came out, "Hymn For The Weekend", is indeed awful in the sweetest possible way.

correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't that say "even unadjusted for inflation"?

That Gotye album is actually so good though. Apparently he's with his old band now (as a commenter recently replied to me), but I wish there were more newer singers like him.

I love Chvrches but for the life of me I can't get this joke— can you explain?

I didn't realize that the Venn diagram of Stereogum and the AV Club was a circle. Huh.

I love your writing for Stereogum, Tom. Welcome to the site!

At least it didn't say "as tech news outlet Twice points out", because that's the clunkiest way to source another site I have ever seen.

The only scene I know from that movie is the Beatles one.

Here's to just another Great Job!
No one wants another, don't say you need another

Upvoting for the effort.

If you're the kind of person that hates cloyingly earnest indie dramedies, you're not gonna get a different reaction.
If you like those kinds of movies, it's an above-average example of the form.

C.R.A.Z.Y is another effective example of Bowie being used. Just a really cool movie as well.

It amazes me how that song's been more or less forgotten— in fact, it actually hit me a lot harder years after I first heard it, because that line and even the title of the song carry a surprising amount of weight for me.

Doing The Right Thing is SOTY so far. So brutal, even for a band like Daughter.

I really should not have found this as funny as I did
