Wait isn't that basically Xenocide? (or whichever Orson Scott Card book had people turn into trees when they die)

Awwwww
Love "Sagres" so it's disappointing to hear that the rest of the album isn't quite as good.

The lead singer's new side project with Bryan Devendorf is excellent; the band name is terrible (Pfarmers?!) but the music is really cool.

Looks like it's Louis C.K. if you haven't looked it up already

"Smooth Criminal" is my favorite MJ song, so I'd throw that in for the "non-huge singles" as well, though honestly I don't know where that one falls in between "huge" and "not huge"

like the "Trouble Will Find Me" of Shearwater?

*ctrl-fs for the National* *is not disappointed*

Between this, Courtney, Laura, and Kendrick this has been the craziest month for music.

I'm surprised by how beautiful it sounds. It's definitely raw and authentic but there's a polish to the album that somehow doesn't take away from the overall feel. And obviously outside of the production it's just brilliant stuff all around.

To me this is a B+ leaning toward an A-. It's not as good as her previous albums but considering she has an album like Once I Was An Eagle (not to mention I Speak Because I Can), I can forgive her. That said, it's going to absolutely slay live.

At first I felt bad that Laura Marling and Courtney Barnett's albums were getting lost in the shuffle, but after listening to some of To Pimp A Butterfly, there are waaaaaayyy worse albums to lose to.
(I know both of those are coming out next week, but still)

Love "How Could You Babe" but I don't understand why people are losing their shit over him and Natalie Prass. Both seem so very "meh" to me.
Oh well, Laura Marling and Courtney Barnett's albums are coming out next week, so that's alright. (heard both of them already and they're fantastic)

Might be a bit smarter than we give them credit for because the girl seems to have neutral-gender emotions, and the parents' are completely gendered.
I feel like Pixar has been pretty conservative in its messages lately so I doubt it.

This is a great idea for a feature. Hope they continue this.

His Tim + Eric/George Harrison mashup from earlier this year was hilarious too.
Neil has always been one of the best creators on the internet, between Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny, the Mysterious Ticking Noise, and now his mashups.

Listen to their music. It fits perfectly.

Peter Katis (of the National, Interpol, and Frightened Rabbit) actually mixed both the Twilight Sad and Honeyblood's records. He's basically the god of the last 13 years of indie music.

YES THE TWILIGHT SAD.
That last album was beautiful but so overlooked because Pitchfork wasn't a fan.
Darn hipsters.

That one is called Heartbeat Song and it's pretty dire. Too bad because Kelly Clarkson usually sings on way better songs than that.

It's really well produced and mixed—I like how the "I miss you, miss you" is done especially— and the first minute or so is pretty cool if you ignore the lyrics.
But I agree with you that the second verse ruins the song a bit.
(I know I sound like Reposted a7x Fan but whatever)
