Why are you wasting time posting comments? READ IT NOW. Post after volume 1. THEN READ VOLUME 2.

Dredd was the most completely satistfying movie I've seen in a long time.

Wasn't there polygamy? Or weren't the contracts an excuse for polygamy? I read it wayback when—I was unnerved but wouldn't have been able to tell you why then, and can't exactly say now either given how little I remember, but I when I learned Card was Mormon I thought, "oh, that makes sense."

I don't want to be murdered, but Detective Chief Superintendent Foyle will investigate my murder with the proper gravity and lip pursing.

Ah, I kind of liked it because I started listening to Radiolab after This American Life had it's own mission creep, which seemed to be we want to be Frontline—which they do okay but not great—but with the occasional David Sedaris Animal hour.

I've seen pairs do a back and forth patter routine in those type of shows, but entirely in bird call like whistles. I don't know if it was comedy, but it was pretty entertaining.

The Museum of the Moving Image has a outdoor cinema series every year in New York, where they pick really strong movies that are all awkward choices for summertime outdoor viewing. But one year had Kikujiro, which is really the only Kitano movie I can imagine watching in those circumstances. It's the one that's not

Look, I don't need to know everything at once, I just think they handled it poorly. The series regular comment is to the fact that since he was one, he had to be present but I think then he was underused, and I think it would've been stronger to not necessarily have the whole gang meet up all at once.

No, but if you're going to have him mostly sit out for 11 episodes, either integrate him better or delay the introduction so when he isn't used, its not a conspicuous absence until he jumps out as a get of jail free card. Maybe he needed to be a series regular credit?

The movie was kind of just alright, but Whedon's commentary was very honest about it's shortcomings—uneven acting, limited time and budget. I always thought a problem was the size of the cast though. Book was a plot device to be deployed when all else failed, and nothing else in the series, and just there in the

There's a bunch of kids playing with albino scorpions being swarmed over by ants. Subtle, that movie ain't, but I love it. Peckinpah also had the (first?) gunfight have a a church group get shot up while singing John Ford's favorite hymn…from My Darling Clementine, I think?

I dunno if the Searchers is really on I go with in this criteria. I think High Noon would be a better choice.

I like the story that since McQueen was taller than Brynner, Brynner was stood on a little pile of dirt in one scene, and take after take McQueen would kick some dirt off the pile, so by the end he was taller than Brynner in the shot.

I thought it had all the pieces of his good movies, but just didn't cohere. Good actors generally, but Norah Jones was up to be the centerpoint. But then, I dunno, I liked his 90s movies—you really hate them? That's kind of a big chunk of his work to dislike that much.

That might be for the best. Wong Kar Wai wuxia is kind of an acquired taste that's maybe not the best choice for first kung fu movie—says someone who's accidentally led people to Ashes of Time unprepared…

Did he have much do with Hero? I had the old vhs and dvd of Chungking Express that was all "Rolling Thunder Presents"…but yeah, I never resented QT for it—his push got them released—just the Miramax/Weinstein view that Asian movies required that kind of marketing, and all those cuts…though really, that Drunken Master

Not after My Blueberry Nights, sir.

Thanks, kind of what I wanted to know. I remember when Harry Potter first came out and their was some (nerd) clamor about how it cribbed Books of Magic—there's definitely shared toolset, particularly in genre fiction that gets pulled out, and definitely acres of space between similar thoughts and derivative ideas, and

Hey, A.A.,

Too early to tell, but it could be good or it could be slight…I'd probably wait for the trade at least. Its like a what if about Michael Madsen's character in the Kill Bills (which sounds cool to me), but what it really gains from being connected to 100 Bullets (other than sales) I couldn't really tell you yet. And
