I don’t think the typical NY Times Middlebrow art maker gets how much discussion of mental health issues like PTSD and addiction there is in the right wing world, and I also don’t think they get how much those things can be used to reinforce right wing values.

I think The Great Protector is supposed to be Fin Fang Foom and they just changed the name because his original name is really racist. Kind of like how in Black Panther they didn’t call M’baku “Man-Ape”.

Carol only interacted with The Supreme Intelligence in a virtual space and they were in the form of Mar-Vell. It’s entirely possible they’re actually a grotesque tentacle-haired blob.

I don’t recall “The Blind Side” being discussed as part of any culture war. It was instead a feel-good underdog sports movie (although athletics is one area where he isn’t an underdog).

This is a headspinning analysis. You almost completely leave out the Sienna Miller at-home storyline, which is the one redeeming part of the movie for most of us who dealt with the vast disconnect between civilians and military over the last 20 years (or in many cases, longer.)

So while I generally love action and war films this one just put a super bad taste in my mouth. Disclosure I’m Muslim and live in the ME though not an Arab.

It’s a call back to the iron rings historically used as training tools and weapons in Kung Fu. Additionally, it looks more dramatic.

I believe NY Times was the first with someone actually going on the record. Gawker and Jezebel just alluded to it a lot, then claimed they did it.

Didn't you read "On Rumors"? They absolutely believed they broke the Louis CK story.

Jezebel has been very complicit in the kind of hounding of female celebrities they condemn here, and recently too. Like, they were going after a 13-14 year old Billie Ellish for singing a song a grown man wrote yesterday. They looked for Lena Durham’s unretouched photos. But you’ll never see a reconsidering of their

Why, did they cast a 16 year old girl?

Yeah I definitely know a type of person that would fit that and maybe they would not like being called a twink.

I don’t know that I’d call this particularly notable for representation, considering how incredibly sexless the MCU is. I’m probably missing something, but I struggle to think of any character except Stark who has ever appeared in a scene where you could say “those two characters are now going to go bang” or “those

Just to take your question at face value, you’re effectively conflating three different concepts into one. Namely: sexual preference, gender identity, and gender presentation.

Why wouldn’t they cover it? It’s significant pop culture news after Marvels/Disney’s struggle with LGBTQ+ representation. It’s getting a lot of coverage in other pop culture outlets.

Loki’s actual villain status has been more than a little murky in the past few movies, and considering he’s the protagonist of his own show where he’s pitted against a weird secretive dictatorial bureaucracy and we’re seeding ideas about predestination and accountability... I think it’s safe to say calling him a

There’s no way Sylvie’s a Loki variant. She keeps explicitly stating she’s not a Loki, that she’s not Loki, and they both say “enchantment” at least once a scene.  She’s for sure Enchantress.

I didn’t say that. I am happily vaccinated, as is the rest of my immediate family. And while breakthrough infections are documented and exist, especially with the new variants, I am no longer afraid for my own family. But having a third of the USA be anti-vaxxers who refused to wear masks in the thick of things has

What is this formula everyone keeps referencing? is it the one where you work hard for years to create a good story? Honestly I haven’t seen cars 2 or 3, but outside of those I don’t think theyve ever made a BAD movie, and their ratio of GREAT to EXCEPTIONAL is pretty damn high.
