That’d be Greg Land.
That’d be Greg Land.
I was with most of this article until the insertion of the adjective “pitiful” in front of salary. Most of the comments critical of this point are clear that she’s free to play for more, but that casting it as a necessity is a false narrative. Yes, I’d agree that it’s taken over every WNBA article to some degree,…
Playbill for a Met Opera makes it sound perfect actually, if you’re going to make a movie? If you’re going to make a one instance (one session if you will) story, operatic sounds great. (sessions last hours, but we’re mostly talking about what snacks to eat, right? That’s just me?) I mean, yes, D&D the movie is an…
You’re asking for teasers of a movie scheduled for 2024?
Eh, in a utilitarian sense, given the publicity around, she very well might be worth it for the US and the administration. In the main, this is kind of diplomacy is such rarefied air...it’s a deal. I wouldn’t call it fine or good or bad. Goodish in terms of effectiveness if the trade happens within a year, and that it…
Sure, I mention them because they set the industry standard of how much credit is given, in particular when the shows are very wedded to the comics that they’re derived from. WB isn’t as inspired as MCU is by the comics (for good or ill—let Zack Snyder make stuff up or cherrypick the best stories and adapt them…
I hope so! It might just me underestimating Gaiman’s influence here, since he is thoughtful and influential, but I would be surprised, the MCU setting and certainly the comics companies setting the standard of expecting nothing on my part.
I skimmed it and missed it. Got it. I hope the other artists get something too.
Lol—looks like the budget for Neverwhere really came up, huh? (I mean that affectionately.)
Dune caught a lot more people than I expected. It’s not so popular as the commentariat at this kind of site suggests (and may not have actually made it as far in a non-Covid schedule), but it’s pretty strong. A lot more than the Blade Runner sequel certainly.
You know, I never connected it so literally—when I hit Rick’s “we are the walking dead” speech in the comic I thought it was about losing humanity and all, but I guess it works both ways. But in any case, here they mean if you have to do inhuman things to survive are you human, and so on.
I don’t think you’re heart is in the right place if you’re anti-PC thinking isn’t I hear your concerns about these marginalized groups but we can work on the language but instead, y’all are just lunatics.
Line readings really are a magical exercise to watch—I think as a non-actor audience, what we see that we connect to and “works” gets quickly implanted as the way something has to be, especially for movies.
I kinda of hate Tarantino and often feel compelled to comment, so this is really weird, but Tarantino’s indulgent, myopic, and petty, but solidly a great director.
Recalibrate his stories to the more YA-ness of a lot of manga and anime, and it’d probably work better.
I think American food culture has really really been shaped by convenience and plenty—so a lot of foodie culture is rediscovering things people have done traditionally when options were narrower. “Off” cuts, from scratch preparations, even proper portions all feel like things that sometimes has to be learned.
I agree with this, but I wonder on what the limits of that is. I find pop culture in general very fan-first, more than my personal take actually, so the sense of ownership and what’s owed is fan-centered. Creative work is output, and creators aren’t really people.
Imagine moving into New Raccoon City...
That’s true, but the Addams family had specials and reboots through the 70s and the 90s (looks like the 80s is a gap). There was more mileage out of the Addams Family because there’s more there...
I have vanishingly little direct experience compared to you, mostly watching Japanese media and with some friends, so take this as you will, but I’ve noticed constricted thinking regarding mental health issues with almost no mention of therapy in a lot of cases, but on the other hand the very real welfare benefits. So…
