This is me, not parsing kinja well, and who’s talking to who.

How about I don’t want to say either of them? But fine, I can think of worse words than “cocksucker.”

Did I justify I? I did say I’m glad it’s not what we’re talking about instead of the incident, or I meant to, but that’s probably bunk. Yeah, Lucy Liu can rightfully be condemned if she said it. It’s terrible and it’s never justified. A twitter account doesn’t feel like the public record the way an interview with her

I agree with the gist of comments that we don’t know what the words were and it might’ve been better to not speculate—if the production assistant’s account posted here by another commenter is anything to go by, it’s both not it and also still an incomplete picture.

I think you’ve got a healthier relationship with his work than I do—I have an oversized petty one from too many “Shinkai is the new Miyazaki” type conversations and coverage that I’m honestly trying to get over, but I read this one and off to the races...

I’m not arguing re: the specifics of Weathering With You. For me, Makoto Shinkai’s work always revolves around an adolescent viewpoint. That he created a fictional world that makes that viewpoint more palatable is natural since his narratives have always revolved around individuals and love stories (centered on the

This seems pretty consistent for someone with a romanticized and adolescent view of the world. As long as you find your soulmate, solipsism is A-okay.

There are a lot of well-known particulars about Prince that people know about that make “awesome album in a vault” an expected kind of story, but is it possible to discuss it with less incredulity that a creator might not release all work to all people in their lifetime?

So, it’s likely that I just can’t tell time anymore, but was that fast? Seems fast.

I have no idea why you think city apartment dwellers aren’t intensely aware of the lack of nature in cities, and don’t fight all the time to preserve or improve on the few greenspaces that we have.

Johnson reminds me of Bruce Willis—there’s always a winking reserve that is conscious of everything being a performance. He’s still in the ring with an audience, if you will, at all times. So he signals more than he embodies at times.

It would certainly be one less thing to prove if the victim wasn’t involuntarily intoxicated an considered incapacitated in NY or wherever else had that stipulation. Which doesn’t result in some thing easy, but it easier. What I’m wondering out loud about though is what actual changes in legal thinking would make

Beyond the specifics of this or that case, it is that prosecutors believe that demonstrating that a victim was unconscious during sex is more difficult than demonstrating they were intoxicated if there is no force involved in it that I’m highlighting, and wonder if there some legal thinking to make these cases more

Intoxication renders someone impossible to give consent, but it being presentable in states like New York only if it was involuntary is a high hurdle along with all the usual biases and the like that our society has (let alone the biases police/prosecutors have).

With the caveat that it’s possible that I’m the only one who finds Loki more annoying than charming, I kind of only really liked the show when we met the purple guy, whomever he is. I was entertained, but also not super intrigued by most of it. As a series and a finale, I’m of the mind that abrupt is way better than

Steam’s main job is a storefront and platform—expecting problems is giving them way too much slack I think.

Has there been info about supply? We’ve all been chatting a lot about price and power, but what are the expectations for availability?

Are they even taking a hit? Are they selling the first run at a manufacturing loss? And actually, yes, some companies totally consider small margins not worth it.

I find it hard to imagine that they didn’t know about Bernie Goetz when they made that subway scene, but using it in the way they did is consistent with inch-deep thoughtfulness.

My feelings about the death penalty in the real world aside, it’s weird it’s not a bigger thing in these fictional universes with mass murderers running around. It’s a very dissonant thing in adulting superheros I think. At worst an Amanda Waller type assigns him and if someone asks how the Joker is useful she shrugs
