I agree 1000%. This was the wrong place, the wrong time, and the wrong people. It doesn't mean (like you said), though, that others can't be both funny and not completely awful about things.

No need to reverse the situation. I already agree this particular case was pretty awful, and I condone nothing about it. What I said was that it is possible to make funny jokes about the topic. They did not. Doesn't mean others couldn't, or haven't already. If a woman responds by being terrified and intimidated

If you don't understand that EVERYTHING can be a joking matter then, and I mean this as politely as possible, you need to expand your mind and views. I always love when closed minded people act as if they are the enlightened ones, and people with an expanded worldview are somehow the problem. Rape isn't funny. That

Can't wait. Sucks, to me, is IPA perfection. I will take it over your Heady/Pliny/whatever double IPA is supposed to be the next big thing (because you can't easily get it).

The god damn Germans got nothin' to do with it!

This is simple. We live in an age of HDTV. It's very easy to see what's happening in explicit detail. Pineda had an obvious amount of pine tar on his neck. Viewers at home could see it. If Boston lost, and was dominated by Pineda in ANY way, people would have lost their minds. Farrell would have been called an

I get your point.

This is the Deadspin comment section. That doesn't rate as name calling around here - heck, its almost a compliment compared to what's normally written :)

If you honestly believe that people do not have the right to love and marry whoever they want, then there's no point in continuing the conversation.

I really only have an issue with someone's faith when it deals specifically with ensuring certain individuals don't have the basic human rights we all deserve. And I think I refrained from outright hostility and name calling. Saying someone's thinking is "extraordinarily backwards" is not exactly name calling. But

It depends on the subject, of course. Questioning why we are on the earth? Who knows. Ask away, because I don't have answers for you. Questioning simple human rights? Yeah, I don't think there's too much to worry about there. It's one of the only subjects where an opinion can actually be incorrect.

Some of us think that blindly following others, without any thought as to how much sense it makes, is a poor idea. Maybe it made sense a few thousand years ago - but the world is a different place. You don't think, just maybe, it's time to question some things? Especially when they make no sense?

Since we can give an athlete a red card for a serious infraction, can we start handing out Orson Scott Cards for extraordinarily backwards thinking in the world of sports?

These reports from Cave-In-Rock are getting out of hand.
