First of all, they are not concerned about niche market as those games are developed by Japanese companies targeted to Japanese audience to begin with. They are not created to cater Western market in the very first place. They make those games simply because they are popular in Japan.

To be honest I don't see that much of a problem with Japanese gaming industry. And from a Eastern/Japanese gamer's perspective, many things can be said for Western games as well. Case in points:

I don't know. But this kind of dramatic cutscene/cgi trailer does nothing to me now. I'd more like to see the actual game play video .

Haha I remember playing this game when I was a kid. It scared the crap out of me back then. And it was so popular that many people I know also were playing it around the time.
