I was commuting 40-45 minutes each way for the last 2.5 years until August. I had back surgery and have been working from home ever since. Definitely having the talk with my boss when I am cleared to go back about NOT going back more than a day or 2 a week. It is SO much better working from home.

My guess is because companies want to always keep tabs on their employees and track everything that they do and say 24/7. Having them in an office gives them the power trip they’re looking for.
