Eating in Valheim is incredibly important unless you’re just sitting around in your base. Not outright dying from not eating is nice, but in my opinion Valheim adds a layer of extra grind that isn’t necessarily present in other survival games. Not only do you have to eat, you have to eat three different types of foods

Well if you’re not using it....

Ewwwwww

The ‘extended cut’ was a massive improvement over the original ending in that it was an actual ending. The retail game basically came to an arbitrary stopping point, it felt as conclusive as shutting off any random movie 10 minutes before the credits.

Honestly, I think that’s part of the issue.

What I think what most people wanted was at the very least a typical Bioware ending where they reveal what happened to your companions and state of the galaxy based on your decisions.

It’s easy to avoid spoilers because the ending is so vague and stupid, that it’s easier to just sum up that it sucked.

Sort of spoilers:

Most of what I read where people made actual arguments is that the Mass Effect series spent three games worth of narratives carrying the effects from your decisions and making it feel like what you did had a real bearing in what was happening, and railroaded you into really narrow sets of circumstances that

There used to be specialized columns for punk, metal, etc but those all went by the wayside. Even when that stuff was segregated into their own areas there would still occasionally be features and long form reviews of other styles in the main feed but this year, for fuck’s sake, they couldn’t even muster up an

I missed out on that period of AV Club, but even still I just wonder what people or how many people go crazy for Moses Sumney or Thundercat- I try to enjoy it, but can’t find a single purchase.

“I know it’s old hat to complain about it at this point, but remember back when the AV Club covered music that wasn’t mostly the same crap that all the regular blah sources reviewed?”

On one hand, you can’t force people to like things they don’t like, but on the other... it gets kind of frustrating to consistently look at these lists (and the other lists they put out through the year) and see essentially no coverage given to any heavier music.

Kvelertak album is my favorite by leaps and bounds. And then, astonishingly, their former lead singer also put out an album this year ... and it’s nearly as good!

I know it’s old hat to complain about it at this point, but remember back when the AV Club covered music that wasn’t mostly the same crap that all the regular blah sources reviewed? I remember when the end of year album lists would be full of stuff to discover and albums that went beyond what you could just hear being

“So obviously, if you spent, you know, $2,000 building your PC rig, it’s going to look better on that. But the graphics are quite amazing for what you’re going to get from Cyberpunk 2077 on consoles and low-end PCs.” (2019)

That seems like a rather misguided take, or at least is ignoring the nuances of complexity for each game. Just the hours it takes to beat says very little about how complex a game is. Was it a simplistic 2d platformer with minimal controls or was it an expansive 3D open world game? Was it only in English with minimal

This is all very scummy and worth writing about. I question whether a review of Cyberpunk 2077 is the right place to do it. People are looking for a review of the GAME, not the PUBLISHER.

Do not ever go to Jalopnik.

Yes it will...
