I miss the days when the Discovery channel actually showed good content instead of shitty reality shows.
You may be right about the internet being the game changer here. I grew up in a state in the middle of the country at a time when the internet was still in its infancy. When I left for college, a 56k modem was still the standard. A lot of fashion trends and brands that started on the coasts never even made it to us.…
Get a grip. We’re talking about a god damned video game console here - a luxury item. Nobody NEEDS one of these. Anybody paying over ticket price here is merely a person with poor impulse control or poor decision making capabilities. Or somebody with enough money not to care. Either way, advocating for their execution…
Maybe I’m old (ok, not maybe) but I’d love for somebody to help me understand the sneaker craze these days. Is it about status? Fashion? Collecting? All of the above?
Playing with bats is how we got into this mess in the first place!
Already ahead of you on the combined legroom! I’ve been crafting a spreadsheet with the total legroom of most sedans currently offered in America. Because I’m a nerd like that. The eye opener for me was when I realized that the E-Class and the 5 series cars have significantly less legroom than our Legacy by several…
The immovable steering column is a potential deal breaker for me on the FD. My legs hit the bottom of the steering wheel when I drive one. Unless I could find a way to lower the seat a bit, (and there’s not much room there) I don’t think I could drive one long term. No matter how much I like them.
You know, I’ve at least partly figured out why SUVs and crossovers are so prevalent. Because rear facing car seats take up a fucking tremendous amount of room. And then all the crap you have to carry around for the kid also takes up a tremendous amount of room. Then say you live in the northeast where snow happens and…
It’s only a matter of time before they start letting that guy with the 1982 Oldsmobile drive for them... I was actually in an early 2000's focus with manual rear windows last year. I have to wonder what kind of nickel and diming you have to do as an auto manufacturer to only install power windows in the front.
This will probably get lost in the grays, but counterpoint: if you’re buying a car anyway, why not take free money? It’s a commonly expressed maxim that the rich stay rich by using other people’s money to work for them. A 0% interest loan on a hard asset is a rare situation for the un-rich to do the same. Hear me out.
People don’t need Miatas, either. What’s your point?
1st Gear: Are 0%, 84 month loans with deferred payments really going to be the answer? I’m skeptical. Or is the average American just so financially illiterate that they think this is the right solution to lowered monthly payments? 7 years is longer than most people even keep their cars, I think.
Congrats on being sober. And keep up the good work. This will all work out in the end.
3 is actually the only game of the series that I rage quit. I lost my second city very early in my first game. The city was defended via city walls and 3 phalanx. It was taken down by a single Barbarian warrior unit from the other side of a river. So, despite the multiple defense bonuses and multiple units, I still…
Haha. That’s a great story! I’m in a scenario where I’ve been researching/shopping all winter with the plan to buy one in the spring. So now I’m just trying to figure out how to use this scenario to gain the maximum advantage in pricing.
Exactly! I’m looking to buy the dip! Just gotta figure out when we are that rock bottom.
I think it’s possible there could be a happy medium in there. 5/6k miles per year is about what I used to put on my toy car. That’s the occasional work commute when the weather is good, and weekend drives to any place that sounds good.
They’re never getting cheaper, and the $10k rough ones are going to be 15-20k minimum in a few years.
I can’t count the number of times I “lazy parked” and pulled in nose first, driving over the curb. I miss my wrangler sometimes.
