I was just thinking yesterday about how G&T season is just around the corner. I’m not much of a drinker, but there’s just something about a G&T in the summer that’s just irresistible.

My mom used to make cabbage that way and I looooved it. Unfortunately, it reeked havoc on my guts.
I’ve got one in its steamy hot bath right now. My husband is out of town, so we’re actually having it for dinner tomorrow. I cured the brisket using a Serious Eats method - covering the raw beef with kosher salt, brown sugar, and Prague powder, along with a bunch of whole spices, then vacuum sealing it and leaving it…
But what about the Corgis!? What’s the plan for the Corgis!?
I’m really curious to see how Oprah portrays Deborah. In the book, she’s very volatile and unstable, and not at all likeable. I wonder if Oprah will play her that way, or try to make her more of a sympathetic character.
Honestly, I don’t think anything about this story would be different if Henrietta Lacks had been a poor white woman.
True. I moved to Louisville from STL and I do miss the t-ravs. I found some here in the freezer section at Kroger (Louisa brand!) and thought I was in business. Then I realized they had cheddar cheese in them. WTF? I was terribly disappointed.
I’m a firm believer in drink g at any and all sporting events, especially my child’s hockey games. It softens the pain of defeat. However, the best sporting event at which to drink yourself to the edge of senselessness is Thai boxing. I went to a match in Bangkok with my husband. There were children who would deliver…
And they’re great with cheese, especially blues.
Interesting, though, that when we were moving to Louisville and checking out schools and neighborhoods, i found that 50% of students in St. Matthews go to private schools.
You can always move to Oldham County. It’s lovely out here (Seriously, it is.) and the schools are very good.
Yep. She was apparently very naive and they were not at all forthcoming about how things would actually be. It’s really awful when you think about it. They were manipulating and using a young woman for their own ends. If they’d been upfront about the situation, at least she would have been prepared for what she was…
A lot of it has to do with what you’re exposed to and what you’ve grown up with. However, someone like Trump has surely eaten enough steak with enough grownup people present that he ought to know most adults don’t eat their steak well-done. That means he’s either too clueless or stubborn to try it any other way, or he…
I find it reeeealllly hard to believe that anyone forces Samuel L Jackson to do anything he doesn’t want to do.
My child has been eating his steak medium rare since he was old enough to chew it - no ketchup. My child has a more refined palette than the president. Sad!
Wow.
I’m getting this weird Nancy Reagan vibe from Isabelle Huppert, which is not making me happy.
Nope. The dress is OK, but her overall look really is not working. I think I like Ruth Negga’s look, but that pic makes her makeup look really severe. Nothing else is really wowing me yet.
My nephew is a HS wrestler and it’s alarming to see what this kid goes through to get to weight. For a healthy, fit kid to exercise to exhaustion and starve himself before a meet is really disturbing. A growing teenager needs food, rest, and a reasonable amount of exercise. It’s a shame when ‘healthy’ competition…
Mm...I’ve watched CNN pretty much every morning since Trump took office, and they take every possible opportunity to call him and his minions out on their bullshit. They don’t let things slide by without challenge.
