I found the ending surprisingly optimistic. In the end, we have family, those we love. We have a job to do and are given just enough time to do it. Betsy may eventually die, but her daughter's life means she's done her job. Can you say that about Dodd? Hanzee? Even poor Floyd, the only Gerhardt worth a damn?

Peggy's basic problem is an almost psychotic narcissism. She thinks she's the star of a great epic, when she's a supporting member of a great tragedy. She's Paris of Troy, not Achilles. Because she can't see what ultimately turns into the profound truth of Fargo - What matters most is who we are to those we love
