I don’t know if this is the place to post this but I’m on my way home from the Downing St protest in London (my second ever protest after the Women’s March). Great turnout on short notice and along with usual anti-Trump chants we were shouting, ‘Shame on May!’. I got to help hold a giant purple banner (thank you

I gave it 17 years before I gave up. Now I’m getting British citizenship next year (after 5 years). Best move I ever made (I got cancer after arriving and if I had stayed in the US I would have died/been bankrupted). There are many things I love about America and Americans despite the present shitshow, but christ is

It’s hard to see but there was also a little egg (presumably of activism) being implanted in the uterus.

FWIW there was strong LGBT presence at the London march. Lots of gay men who were clearly veterans of many protests were there. Lots of purple pussy hats. The person ahead of me part of the way was trans (and I’m ace).

Yeah we did but it took forever to get out of grosvenor square.

I completed the London march despite still recovering from abdominal surgery. It was my first ever protest for anything! Glad I went, it was a blast. Very family atmosphere, very inclusive. It felt like a carnival. Here are some of my fave signs:

The schools should schedule their talk in a broom closet. Or better yet, engage the drama department and fill the audience with people wearing masks and who listen in absolute silence, no applause, no cheering, not even a cough, then quietly file out afterward. Give these fuckers zero feedback and zero satisfaction in

Trident does diddly squat for UK security. The UK has a grand total of 215 nukes while Russia and the US have 1500+ each. The UK could maybe take out a city or two before being obliterated by whomever. Might as well not be a threat to anyone?

Most of the palaces are open, in some fashion, at least some of the time so I don’t know what you’re smoking. You can have tea at Buckingham Palace in the summer ffs. Plus if it’s still an active residence there’s more mystique attached, and it’s less mausoleum-like.

Trident offers continued nuclear nonsense. The queen is adorable. The queen also brings in a lot of tourism £££s. Every time I walk past Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace or any royal event there are tons of people. I think the charity work the royal family does is totally valid. Even when the government fucks up

I hope the Rockettes perform in white pantsuits. I’m not sure even he could miss that.

I’m a UK taxpayer. I don’t mind paying for the Queen. What I do mind is paying for Trident 😒. The only way to get rid of nukes is to get rid of nukes. We should not be participating in this deterrence nonsense.

I had the same reaction from a male roommate—he was completely incensed. What am I supposed to do, eat the wrapper? It goes in the bin. Infuriating.

Even if we were more genetically diverse it would be uncool to say crap based on unfounded fears. But yeah.

Oh it’s definitely a documented thing. Usually if it happens within a year (and the people were strongly pair bonded) it’s considered a broken heart death. Grieving puts a lot of stress on the body and in particular the arterial systems, so you get a lot of strokes and heart attacks.

I’m hoping Pence is diabolical in a Francis Underwood sort of way and he’ll stab Trump in the back either literally or figuratively. Can’t stand the man, and he’s frightening in his own right, but still vastly preferable.

I’m hoping the DOD gives him the ‘nuke’ ‘codes’ with ample use of air quotes and a patronising pat on the back.

It’s not exactly just ‘gotten to the point’, it’s been happening for centuries, with a bit of ebb and flow now and then.

I’ve not been in a relationship for 14 years and I’m totally cool with that. I do live with my best friend so I get to eat meals, watch Netflix, and have stimulating conversations with another person on the regular. Last year I got cancer (successfully treated) and my aunts and uncles who are in their 70s/80s are

I think this is my 18th or 19th xmas alone (in 22 years, which is all of my adult life). I’ve always hated xmas, especially as a kid (one time my mother dumped water on me because I refused to get out of bed by about noon one xmas morning). I don’t know precisely why I hate it but I find many aspects of it unnerving
