I would make the argument that it does a TERRIBLE job of communicating that bit of story, though.

It’s visually stunning, but without assistance from external sources, I don’t think anything in the last scene of 2001 makes a lick of sense.

Maybe it’s not supposed to, and that’s okay.

Jesus Christ, can’t a team just LOSE and blame it on scoring less points than the other team anymore?

My issue is are they getting false hope with a scholarship, and for a lot of those kids I say no. Back in the day you could give anyone a scholarship right? Now non scholarship players can leave at any point easier than a scholarship player can. But I could be wrong about who gets a scholarship vs. who used to get one

I was a kid in Edmonton in the early 80s. We had Moon *and* Gretzky. I used up all my sports karma before I was 10.

I was really bummed when he didn’t win the Heisman, more so when he finished third. I think he was hampered by playing some weaker opponents, as well as having a few games where he got pulled early because Clemson had such a big lead.

Much better than trees walking around in a house.

“It’s not right to call any part of Alabama’s 45-40 victory in last night’s national championship game fluky...”

Correct. And I noted that it wasn’t Porter.

Yep, you cracked the case.

If he were speaking as a mentor, then sure, but as a member of NFL media machine, it’s self-serving at best, hypocritical at worst.

If nobody else has said it yet, I think your words below, specifically, frame the part that is the technical infraction on Porter...

Except he wasn’t, he was in a pile of Bengals. The NFL rules state the only people allowed on the field are attendants and their helpers. He isn’t in that role and even if it was his official title, he’s de facto not doing his duties in a pile of Bengals players with no Steeler in camera frame.

He was checking on an injured player by consulting with the medical experts on the bengals D I assume?

Rule 13 article 2 and article 8 are the relevant bits. From the rulebook:

Take ‘em to school, Deion.

Allowed to be on the field but not to get into a confrontation with Bengals’ players, (rule 13, article 8) should've been offsetting penalties

This is a real bad sign for the rest of my life, but I totally agree with him.

He aint wrong.

I’m no fan of Pacman Jones or the Bengals, but he’s kind of right here. Burfict earned his flag, but the call on Jones was pretty weak when Porter was out there going back and forth with Bengals. Joey Porter isn’t part of the training staff or Antonio Brown’s position coach (or the head coach for that matter), why is
