You need to separate those suggestions into different comments so that we can vote for them. I’m with you on one-bag chili.

An entire turkey 𝘤𝘶𝘵 𝘶𝘱 would be fine (I’ve done it with a chicken). But you can’t vacuum pack a whole turkey (all that interior space y’know), so it could never work.

I was thinking about canceling my cable service so that I wouldn’t be tempted to watch that crap, but you’ve shown that idea to be pointless, Eric. Gee, thanks....

That’s what I say about durian.

That comment was in poor taste.

Well, the Serious Eats recipe that Claire mentioned also recommends 170°F.

Simple, cheap, disposable plastic wrap over the container completely solves the evaporation problem. As I’ve mentioned before, I tried the trick of cutting a hole in the Cambro lid, but I often need to move the circulator to different spots to get good circulation for particular packages, and the lid prevents that.

Of course they’d wait until the $50 Echo Dot was released before doing this—you’d have to be pretty hardcore to want to spend more building your own version with a RasPi.

Visit DC (where I live) and see just how grim America has become, with security theater everywhere (most annoyingly, to get into the Smithsonian museums). The Washington Monument is closed indefinitely due to structural problems from the little earthquake we had a few years back. The White House and the Capitol

Google Home’s ability to play synchronized music via multiple Chromecast Audio devices is a very big deal, compared to using an Amazon Echo (which, I’d wager, is never going to have this feature—if the hardware were capable of it, it would work by now). You can monogram (and otherwise decorate) many items yourself using a laser engraver. It works on anything from paper to denim to leather (including shoes!). I’ll bet a high school student with a $600 engraver could make some serious money doing custom work for other students.

Or, just use safe, inexpensive citric acid. I buy it in bulk and using for cleaning throughout my house (including the teapot, where it, um, shines).

Paragraph 3, above.

Ah, but from what animal?

Oh, Claire... It doesn’t hurt to be a dictator occasionally (and it 𝙞𝙨 your column). Just do the tongue if you want to!

I forgot about installing the “internal mixing tube” in my OXO, and now I don’t know where I put it. But I don’t find anything wrong with my coffee. Has anyone tested whether or not the thingy makes a noticeable difference?

I’ll bet you’re basing that on having tried the Walmart brand (eww....). There are good pumpkin pies. Heck, even the Costco one isn’t bad.

I wonder if there’s some gigantic magnetic field source under Russia that both attracts meteors and warps brains.

Excellent point, but I wouldn’t want to see the lovely pumpkin pie idea derailed. So, Claire, can we decide this week that we’ll do tongue next week for sure?

Good idea—tongue next week!
