It’s just a really good indication of character. Like, have you stolen shit? Committed fraud? Or physically hurt someone? Chances are you’re not a good dude. Doesn’t mean that all law abiding people are good dudes nor does it mean that all criminals are bad now and forever.

Off the top of my head? How they treat people, are they law abiding, do they have a good sense of humor and their looks.

I also use the phrase brother all the time and on the occasions when I’m directing it at a black person, I use a Willie Nelson accent. I’ve found that does the trick in communicating how i’m using the word “brother.”
