Anyway why fear anyone else, the Chinese can't build a jet engine and the Russian ones need maintenance after a few thousand hours.

This article is overly long and rather confused.

Yes and every year we delay costs thousands more lives.

*35,000 die each year

35,000 people are year in the US alone. Any self-driving car is going to be an order of magnitude safer than humans driving. Just have the government pick up the tab for insurance.

Roads are a great place for children. Running across a busy road without looking will get you killed. I was taught how to cross the road as a child and then my parents assumed that as best they could tell I was of normal human intelligence and didn't have a death wish. So they let me at it.

Your parents are the reason Americans are fat. Roads are for people too.

Nothing wrong with walking across the street. Jaywalking is a made up American thing. Roads are just as much for people as for cars.

I'm not saying military capabilities doesn't tell you something but it's very very much less than understanding the other aspects I mentioned.

Does it though? Japan has a huge industrial complex, advanced military capabilities and could build nuclear tipped ICBMs over the weekend and yet the chances of it invading somewhere is 0.

This is stupid. Placing far too much influence on military capabilities in relation to geo-politics. Culture, leaders, economics and demographics play a far far far more important role.
