I am a graduate student, and I spent most of my weekday work time writing (typing) in a library, and home/coffee shops on the weekend. I have done some things to make the weekday easier - a 60% keyboard, mouse and a laptop elevation stand etc. But are there any other things you could recommend that might make things

Turtles truly are wtf pets. My mom found one under similar circumstances, and she has him(?) for a few years now. A smallish breed, from what I understand, but pretty spry and loves to climb my feet when I visit. Also loves strawberries. Weird fella, but very cute.

I don't see how using part dado and part adjustable shelves is useful, especially since the dado joint requires additional work and equipment. A 100% dado joined shelving arrangement is technically beautiful, and an adjustable system is flexible. A mixed arrangement is neither.

While I am all for the beauty of wood joinery, the dado joint has always been the one I avoid.

It's likely not live yet - no download link on the website. Only an installer that adds the plugin to all your browsers.

Walmart or Target can sell pretty nice dressy things, really. The question is of fit. Poor fits tend to look worse on dressy clothes than on regular jeans and sweater. I suspect you are one of the lucky few whose bodies fit ready clothes well. Not only do big box clothes not fit me well, even better places like Brooks

That's quite nice, actually. Some of my lawyer friends claim that they can only wear custom made suits if they want to "succeed." It's quite silly to see people with hundreds of thousands in debt spending more to get custom suits.

I guess it all comes down to your personal style. I wear really formal suits and shoes to teach, but am usually wearing bright red polka dot socks or something along those lines. I don't think these things matter too much, but as a new academic, a big aspect of teaching, for me, is to have confidence in my abilities

I think most students won't carry a Nalgene if they are wearing formal clothes to school for whatever reason. Or to an interview. When you teach in a super uptight university, these things matter too much, I have learned. I studied at MIT, so I am aware that professors and TAs may wear pyjamas to class with a Nalgene

Do you wear a suit to teach? Everyone has their own sense of style, so I guess there's no rigid rule. But I wouldn't carry a Nalgene while wearing a suit.

I guess it depends on the school, and more importantly, what you are wearing. I teach in the northeast, and professors always wear suits. Quite a posh environment. Personally I wouldn't carry a Nalgene with a suit, although yes, it's very good for a hike etc.

I had one of the regular ones as well (the kind you posted). Unfortunately I had the bigger size, which, while perfectly functional, was just a bit too big for me. I work indoors, so a water bottle is more about convenience, and not about having enough to last for a day. Both are great, and I like the smaller model

Well it's certainly not prohibited. Nothing is. But I wear a suit at least on the days I teach (and so do other profs in the department), so a nalgene is not something that would look good. To my own eyes, that is.

They are fine, but quite inappropriate for any moderately professional environment (as a professor, I can't be seen with this since most of my students have one of these brightly colored bottles).

Just too big and bulky imo.

Incredibly huge, doesn't fit into anything other than book bags, which no self respecting adult should carry.

I much prefer the sleeker lines of the "Takeya Modern" (I recommend that bottle in the comments below) but both these bottles are great.
