In my memory, it was pretty good, at least in the first season. The production values were impressive for a TV show, and unlike the films, they kept the plots grounded in reality... although you had to believe that a teenager who hasn’t yet been to university was somehow an expert at every endevour he tried and that

Except that the Beatles’s style of music continuously evolved over the course of only a few years. The MCU, not so much.

That chicken gyro looks pretty good too.

Trust me, no matter how many of those films I’ve seen and not particularly enjoyed, I’ve been told I need to watch more and then I’ll surely like them. It feels like I’m being recruited for a cult.

I can assume he’s probably seen at least one or two.  I don’t know what it is with Marvel, if you don’t like the films (as I don’t either), some fan will insist that you just haven’t seen enough of them yet.

Good to know that it’s not just my brain failing to decipher dialogue in my native language, but it sucks that this has become the industry standard.

I like most of Pennsylvania well enough, but the pictures and this whole article did not make me miss my hometown of Philadelphia one bit.

Ah, so they’ve almost never been able to convince them to travel to Cleveland.

On a side note, have they given up trying to convince the inductees to travel to Cleveland for the ceremony and now they just do it LA?

Based on the stock photo, someone from Hamburg apparently does not own an Aquacar.

Working in a movie theater as a teenager permanently killed my appetite for popcorn, even 30 years later.  I just can’t unsee what the vat of congealed oil looks like before it heats up, or the absolutely unhealthy look of the people who would order the large bucket size and request I apply a separate layering of that

These are some of the best history videos on Youtube.  Jumping for joy in a field of flowers was never so funny.

The worst kind of dumbass is the type that doubles-down on the dumbassery.

Back when I was a beer drinker (I developed a strange intolerance a few years ago), I found that when US brewers first pick up a more obscure European beer style, the first few will try a relatively faithful adaptation of the original. Then, the copycats will take whatever feature made the beer unique, and dial it up

Germany has plenty of good vegetarian options, but any restaurant serving typical German food is going to be pretty rough for a vegetarian. A vegan friend of mine was once limited to a bowl or Rotkraut.

Can a Canadian out there confirm to me that Tim Horton’s coffee has changed? I recently visited Canada for the first time since the pandemic began, and the coffee just seems to have a more bland taste. Mind you, I was never under the impression that Timmy’s was a particularly fine coffee, but it did have a nice little

Rauchbier is surprisingly hard to find in Germany outside of Bamberg. I lived in the country for 6 years, and despite always keeping an eye out for it, I only found it in its home town. It went well with the meal I had of Schweinshaxe, but I can see how it might not be to everyone’s taste served by itself.

I’ve only had Rauchbier in Bamberg, and it paired perfectly with Schweinshaxe, so I can imagine it goes very well with BBQ too.

All I have to add is that your comment led me to look up Andrew Wyeth on  Wikipedia, and I was really surprised that he was still alive as of 2009. My art teacher in grade school (in the 1980s) was a big fan of his, but she seemed to talk about him in the past tense, so I assumed he’d been dead for decades.

Well, at least we still have the animated revival of Corner Gas.
