As I pointed out below, because the source material for this show was never fully fleshed out, Amazon has quite a bit of room for creative license. As a fan, I really can’t say “Gil-Galad would never do/say that!”, because from the source material, we know almost nothing about the character other than some of the

Big Tolkien nerd here, but I’m not really looking for any absolute fidelity to the text for this show... mainly because the “text” the show is based on mostly exists as a series of footnotes and half-developed outlines that neither JRR or Christopher Tolkien ever really fleshed out. Other than certain broad story arcs,

He’s pretty much a blank slate from the source material, so they probably have quite a bit more creative freedom than they would with a character described in much more detail, like Aragorn, or even Turin or Feanor.

I didn’t even like McDonald’s food as a kid, but I remember the McDLT simply because they announced this unremarkable sandwich with an absolute advertising blitzkrieg that seared itself into your brain.

If I recall, she and Gil-Galad are just about the only Noldor nobility who survive the First Age, correct? Is Gil-Galad even in this show? As much as you can call Tolkien's scattered writings on the Second Age a "story", he seems to be probably the most prominent elf character.

Galadriel as written by Tolkien was nigh perfect at everything she set her mind to, was always right about everything and made one single flawed decision in her entire life.

There is enough raw material in various Tolkien writings that the right creative minds could conceivably flesh out into interesting narratives. Whether or not this team managed to do so has yet to be seen.

I still remember one of the thrills from seeing the original trailer for the Fellowship of the Ring was that during that “hero moment”, you could easily identify each member of the fellowship at a quick glance, so well were the characters both cast and costumed.

I guess I’ll have to be that Tolkien nerd who starts off saying “Well, actually...”

Some musical cue references from The Simpsons now finally make sense to me, almost 30 years later.

The new logo of the company should be a snake eating its own tail.

My impression is that at least a fair number of people go to church out of habit without actually taking in a word that is said. I remember once a priest gave a lengthy and passionate sermon on the necessity of charity and compassion for the poor, using ample Biblical references. Not two hours later, my mom, who

Or is he traducing?

An image just crossed my mind of a Hollywood filled with burning bridges that an army of PR lawyers are furiously trying to extinguish.

I’m pretty sure you’re not my wife, but that’s exactly how she cooks Brussels sprouts.

Mix it with soy sauce and a few seasonings, and use it as a marinade for grilled salmon. You can thank me now.

I usually get the whole sausage that you slice into patties.

So, is this kind of, sort of vaguely inspired by 1001 Nights? Thats the vibe I got from the trailer.

I really don’t know too much about Shia LaBeouf, but it seems like I’ve read oblique remarks about him not exactly being amongst the most upstanding human beings for as long as I’ve recognized his name, which would go back to at least the late 2000s.

I stayed at a Hyatt recently this summer as a stop-over during a longer trip. Couldn’t order room service or even see the menu without downloading their stupid World Of Hyatt phone app, which I then couldn’t activate, because apparently I was automatically signed up for some other “Hyatt” rewards program when I stayed
