I hadn't thought about viewing it that way. That's a really interesting perspective.

mostly, I'm annoyed that the YA author circling of the wagons has focused on the "you didn't like that you didn't get the ending you wanted and you are spoiled' as opposed to "you are upset that you didn't get an ending you felt satisfying or made sense on a basic plotting and writing level."

I liked the first book. It's all diminishing returns after that, though.

I enjoyed the first book quite a bit. The second one seemed distinctly shakier, and having spoiled myself thoroughly and read a lot of commentary on the third, it seems like my decision to cut my losses was a smart one. A lot of ire is being focused on the author for A Thing That Happens That Makes A Lot of Readers
