But that is because the ranch they are used to IS trashy. The same goes for mayo, bleu cheese, and a lot of BBQ sauces. But you make them legit, and they can be incredible.

Because after treatment there is something left over that they need to get rid of, and they cannot dump it in the ocean, and there is no other place to put it, cheaply, in NY.
ok, i see your interpretation, and it might be valid, she doesn’t provide enough info to know. But I disagree with the “obviously the image did well”. I don’t think us or her are in a position to determine that. We have no idea what the expectations were for the images, and we have no idea what the sales were. It…
i mean, her vague recollection is that she would not be paid for the first shoot, but if the photos did well and there would be a second shoot and there would be royalties. It doesn’t say she’d get royalties for the first shoot images, and it doesn’t say what “did well” means. Even if we assume she was told she would…
It’s the same pitch every person who isn’t being paid is given. Shit, it’s the basis of every internship. It’s someone saying “I’m not going to pay you, but maybe, down the road, you might make some money.”
not to a serial killer. We They love the mousy ones.
Yea, fuck your dying business model, I’m not paying $6 for a soda. I’ll bring it in, and if you kick me out i’ll do a charge back on my credit card.
I mean, is she a victim? “They told me that they wouldn’t be able to pay me for the first shoot”. They then handed her a contract that said the same. She signed it. She did the shoot. They sold the photos as they claimed they would as stock photographs.
“guys, i went in there to buy some weed, but like, he had a LOT of weed. I’m not ok with that.”
right, all movies turn a profit somewhere in the lifecycle. But a movie that takes 3 years to turn a small profit from investment in filming to residuals is not considered a successful investment.
Oh, you are 100% correct about creative accounting. I am just saying that a movie doubling it’s production budget in sales is definitely not some kind of runaway success. This isn’t Warner pinching pennies, $9m is likely a large portion of their profits.
Spend less than 1/3 on marketing would be well below industry average, and your arguing gross versus profit here. $400 million in theaters doesn’t mean Warner gets $400M. In the US, Warner gets about 50% of that, it varies worldwide, in China they only get about 25%.
it made 300M worldwide, while it cost 180M excluding marketing. It was not a significant commercial success. It likely broken even or eeked out a small profit. It is not uncommon for marketing budgets to cost more than the movie’s production budget.
“Person sees numerous red flags, proceeds anyway, gets scammed” just doesn’t have the same ring to it I guess.
Bail shouldn’t be determined based on how guilty you think the person is, but in how likely they are to attempt escape. Sure, the charge plays into that, but if he isn’t a flight risk, he shouldn’t have an absurd bail/bond.
I think you misunderstood me. CODE RED or DIE.
code red or die.
There is no reason to have umpires calling balls and strikes aside from having someone managers can kick dirt at.
Climb onto this door with me and float in a sea of black panther jokes.
