I think they need $200M for STARTUP of actual production. Pre-orders with $100 or even $1000 doesn’t get you there.

OK, it is 2015 now. Production has been pushed to later 2016. I suspect if there is a last ditch chance, it will need to be done by 2017 or it is over. I think the $6800 is for a very base model for early buyers (manual, no traction control, basic radio, no a/c). It will probably come out at over $9000 at the base…
