If you think about the fact that you need to put in the energy required to make the fuel, transport it, and then burn it at only 25-40% efficiency, its lifecycle cost is going to be many times higher than that of charging an electric car. You’re forgetting the other key ingredient of this fuel: electricity. It’s only carbon-neutral if the electricity to produce it comes from a renewable source.
