I've taken to prominently picking up a piece of trash and putting it in the trash can because it only takes one person doing the right thing to shame people from throwing their litter on the street. (I really want to start running up to people who litter and ask if they dropped that piece of litter... but I'm afraid

I think it's because dogs are more likely to attack humans than cats are. Also, rabies. Not that cats can't get rabies, but that historically dogs were more associated with the disease. There's a reason why 'mad dog' is in the vernacular but there's no equivalent for a rabid cat.

There's a small issue with this one, and that's personal space rules vary by culture. I would amend it to teaching children to pay attention to cues that you are getting too close to another person for their comfort. (And I'm someone who is very protective about her personal space as well!)

Yeah, I once had a bad case of food poisoning from some packaged brie slices that tasted off. Now, if I try any dairy that seems off I get rid of it. One night in bed throwing up (and shaking) is enough for me.

Not really, as the FDA recommends that you throw out any kind of cheese that has mold on it.

Is this to lessen the amount of sodium in the food? If so, then the problem isn't salting the pasta water but the amount of sodium are in the sauces (which I'm guess are not made in house).

Same thing. I'm terrible when speaking to someone who has a different accent with me because I start picking up on their inflections and injecting it into my own speech. FWIW, I do love accents and regionalisms and wish that the US would be more like the BBC which requires a variety of accents on television including

For the life of my I've never understood why people outside of Western NY haven't embraced beef on weck.

I love "Under the Skin" because somehow it made horrific sense and yet I still have so many questions about it.

Plaid is forever.

Yes, the flouncy mini-skirt must die. I can wear a normal mini, but the current trend of a flared mini makes these skirts obscenely short on me. Bring back knee length A-lines!

I still think that I have a very cute sunflower dress from seventh grade... And since I think that I could still fit into it. But yeah, the 90's (which was a retread of 70's fashion) is going to be coming back. Hello clunky shoes and bell bottoms.

The final result is generic looking pretty. Sad.

I can almost see this happening as my sister and I almost got hit in the head w/ a tennis ball yesterday at the US Open (she DUCKED under it; I was all what's going on — but that's how I spent all of yesterday at the Open). Still, tree branch to the face would have merited cringing at least.

::Headdesk:: Although I don't know how much of the American Civil Rights movement is taught in the UK or Australia. And water cannons are used in the UK to quell protests and riots there. But still, just no.

Sir, I offer you my sincerest condolences.

Acw where are you in WNY? I know of a few good places in the Southern Tier...

It's ALWAYS time for chowdah.

Socks: Smartwool Smartwool Smartwool. They make great socks for running and for life in general. Of course, I use of all my running socks for regular I have to wear sneakers or boots socks as well, and of all the athletic socks I have the smartwool ones are the most comfy.

Regarding keeping your hands lower: the 10 and 2 rule was made before air bags were invented. If you keep your hands there and have a collision the air bag will force your hands up and might cause you to break your wrist. Keep them at 8 and 4 for less chance of injury!
